Editorial Guidelines for Submitting Events and Resources

Publication Day
The Progressive Action Alert ~ St. Lawrence Valley (formerly St. Lawrence County) is sent by Email each Wednesday, generally in the evening.
It is preferable that you send your information in as soon as you have information to share, to allow time for assembly and distribution.

Format for Submitting Events
Please share your events using the format in Editorial Guidelines below.
Posts must be linked to a web, FB, blog, or other online page for more detail, unless the entire content is less than three lines long.  We will not put long descriptions in this compact "digest" email format.  Providing a link allows the reader to learn more.

Deadline
It is preferred that information be received by the preceding Sunday for the Wednesday edition, whenever possible.  Earlier is fine.  Later submissions may not be guaranteed immediate publication.

Fast Breaking Events
Another feature of the Progressive Action Alert is that we can send bulk Texts to our constituents.
If you have such an event, please send an email with the information requested below for our use.
Then text (preferably) or call 315 261 1926 to notify us of your request.
This service will be used for spur of the moment events - generally rallies, marches and mass actions.

Events to Include

Should fit under the general heading of a Progressive event or resource.

Organizing meetings
Rallies, marches, etc. 
Educational forums
Community or cultural events
Calls or letters people can make
Extraordinary reading materials or resources you have found

GEOGRAPHICAL NOTE: 
~  Rallies, marches, conferences and other large public participation events will be posted from throughout the NY District  21 region specifically, as well as state-wide and national events of relevance.
~  Smaller organizing type events will NOT be included unless they are specifically in the St. Lawrence Valley and western Adirondack region (roughly St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Franklin counties.)

EDITORIAL GUIDELINES
As much as possible, please try to use this format so it doesn't take us hours of copy editing to put it together?  This is so helpful to our volunteer editors; thank you!

1)  Title for event
           (this is generally where we will provide a link, as per #4 below.)
2)  Description of 1 or 2 sentences
           (enticing and substantive; we reserve the right to edit for brevity and content)
3)  Date, Times, and Location
           (please briefly include pertinent detail such as room number, link to campus map,
               zip code for GPS, parking situation if relevant, etc.)
4)  A link to go to if people want to learn more.

Posts must be linked to a web, FB, blog, or other online page for more detail, unless the entire content is less than three lines long, and should include contact information for further details.  We will not put long descriptions, articles, or excerpts in this compact "digest" email format. It degrades our "read-ability" and defeats the purpose of being a quick, one-stop, overview source of networking and community building information.
